Welcome to my story

Below is a piece of poetry written in 2004, based on the love I have for my partner Michael at the same time reflecting on my own insecurity.
Once I Write Of Love
I had a dream; it was a summer’s night in June
Strange when I sleep, under a buttermilk moon.
There were roses of crimson, white, yellow and red
Its petals scattered, draped across my bed.
I remember a candle; its flame flickered and shone
I was scared you would leave, that you would be gone.
Nevertheless, you were there, beside me, much as you are here
Therefore, I leant over I kissed you, and whispered in your ear.
I cannot say, sincerely because my words just fall apart.
In a word, LOVE!
Where do I start?
I know how I feel, but how do I put it in text
Once I write of LOVE!
What do I write about next?
You smiled like you do, then faded away
Dreams do not endure forever, nothing is here to stay.
The roses in my room, became roses of fire,
Burning away my foolishness, burning away my desire.
You were gone empty was my bed,
I was alone, not warm, but rather cold instead.
I had a dream it was almost about you
Left with out absolution and the words I spoke true.
I cannot say, sincerely because my words just fall apart.
In a word, LOVE!
Where do I start?
I know how I feel, but how do I put it in text
Once I write of LOVE!
What do I write about next?
